You can add a Standardization node to a data job to make similar items the same. Examples of standardization are correcting misspellings (Mary instead of Mmary), using full company names instead of initials (International Business Machines instead of IBM), and using consistent naming conventions for states (North Dakota instead of ND). Once you have added the node, you can double-click it to open its properties dialog. The properties dialog includes the following elements:
Name - Specifies a name for the node.
Notes - Enables you to open the Notes dialog. You use the dialog to enter optional details or any other relevant information for the input.
Locale - Specifies the locale within your Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) to used to perform the standardization.
The Standardization fields section of the dialog includes the following elements:
Available - Displays the fields that you can make available for the next step in your data job. Items displayed in this list are dependent on your data sources and any preceding steps in your data job.
Selected - Displays the fields that will be made available to the next node in your data job. Note that a button marked with an ellipsis (...) appears when you select a scheme in the Scheme column. You can click this button to set scheme options that are used when the scheme is applied to your data.
Additional Outputs - Displays the Additional Outputs dialog. This dialog enables you to specify the fields that you can make available to the next node in your data job.
Preserve null values - When selected, specifies that null values in the data source are preserved.
Add standardization flag field - When selected, displays a true/false flag when a field is standardized.
You can access the following advanced properties by right-clicking the Standardization node:
