Use the
Source Type Selection page to choose the type of SAP R/3 data sources
that you want to create in SAS Data Integration Studio. You can create
data sources from SAP R/3 tables and views or from SAP R/3 hierarchies.
Select
the
Tables option to browse the metadata
in your SAP R/3 System and then select the tables or views that you
want to register in your metadata repository. Select the
Standard hierarchies or groups option to create a job
to be used to read hierarchy metadata from your SAP R/3 System.
SAP R/3
hierarchies and groups are organizational data structures that are
defined in your SAP R/3 System. For more information about SAP R/3
hierarchies and groups, see your SAP R/3 documentation. You can extract
metadata from a single set or hierarchy, or you can extract metadata
from all standard hierarchies for a chart of accounts.
Note: R/3 hierarchies
or sets are not stored directly in tables in the R/3 System. The following
function modules must be installed in the R/3 System before you can
extract R/3 hierarchies or groups:
-
/
SAS/Z_SAS_G_SET_TREE_IMPORT
-
/
SAS/Z_SAS_G_SET_LIST_SELECT
See the
Post-Installation Instructions for SAS/ACCESS Interface
to R/3 for more information on these function modules.
The Source
Type Selection page contains the following items:
specifies which type
of data source and metadata that you want to register in your metadata
repository:
browse the metadata
in your SAP R/3 System and select the tables or views that you want
to register as data sources in your metadata repository. If you have
not pre-extracted your SAP R/3 metadata, a prompt displays to indicate
that no metadata was found in the SAP R/3 metadata library. If you
select
Yes to proceed with the SAP R/3 Register
Tables wizard, you can dynamically search the metadata in your SAP
R/3 System to identify the tables or views that you want to register
as data sources in your metadata repository.
Note:
-
For better performance, it is recommended
that you pre-extract your metadata.
-
If you select this option and you
have not pre-extracted your metadata, some options on the next window
are disabled.
Standard hierarchies or groups
enables you to create
a job to use to extract metadata from specific R/3 hierarchies and
groups. After you run the job, the hierarchy data is available in
a SAS data set.
