Metadata Type Inheritance
Metadata types inherit properties from their parent type, as shown in the foldout in Appendix 2. Independent metadata types are represented as a rectangle. Dependent types are represented by a rectangle with rounded corners. (For an explanation of these broad categories, see Independent and Dependent Metadata Objects.)
