The OLAP Procedure

Overview: OLAP Procedure

The OLAP procedure is one of the SAS tools that you can use to create, update, and delete cubes and shared dimensions.
You can also use the Cube Designer wizard to generate and execute OLAP procedure code. The Cube Designer wizard can be launched from SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS OLAP Cube Studio. Help on using the wizard to build cubes is available from within both applications. The wizard is also depicted in detail in Cube Building and Modifying Examples.
The OLAP procedure enables you to perform the following tasks:
  • build cubes with ragged hierarchies
  • create multilingual cubes
  • define dimensions that are shared between two or more cubes
  • rename cubes
  • change nonstructural cube elements
  • specify options that optimize cube creation
  • enhance query performance by generating aggregations
  • specify data set options on detail, fact, dimension, and drill-through tables
  • add geographical connections based on ESRI mapping data
  • design dimensions that have more than one hierarchy
  • define global calculated members and named sets
