This statistic tests the null hypothesis that the data are a random sample from a normal distribution. The test statistic is always greater than 0 and less than or equal to 1.
If the sample size (N) is 2000 or less, the Shapiro-Wilk statistic is used. For larger sample sizes, the Kolmogorov D statistic is used.
