Run a SAS Program That Creates a Data Set

This option enables you to enter the name of an existing SAS program that SAS/LAB software should run to create a data set.

This option can be useful in many situations. For example, your site may store data in flat files rather than SAS data sets to save disk space; when you need to analyze the data, you could run a SAS program that creates a temporary SAS data set from the appropriate flat file. Or, you may need to run a SAS program that merges two data sets, performs some calculations, and so forth before you have the data set you want to analyze.

When you use this facility to run a SAS program, the last data set created by that program becomes SAS/LAB software's current data set.
