This selection allows you to enter data in a format in which all fields for one and only one observation are displayed at any one time. This method of data entry is recommended if your data set will contain many variables.
Before the data entry environment comes up, you will be asked to provide a name for the new data set and information on the variables to be in that data set. For the variables, you provide names and types, and optionally lengths, labels, formats, and informats.
In the data entry screen, tab to go from one field to the next. To bring up a blank screen for entering the next record's data, select 'Add new record' from the Edit pull-down menu.
