A non-SAS data file is a file containing data in some non-proprietary form. Most frequently, the files read by SAS/LAB users will contain simple character and numeric data. For example, a file of data read from a machine might begin as follows:
04A359X42203 | |
04A372X46303 | |
04B355X46103 |
Or, experimental data in a file might resemble the following:
Trial 1 | 45.7 | 3.45 |
Trial 2 | 62.1 | 3.82 |
Trial 3 | 57.4 | 3.85 |
Non-SAS data files can also include data in ASCII format, EBCDIC format, binary format, hexadecimal format, and the like.
