What’s New In SAS LASR Analytic Server
Overview
SAS LASR Analytic Server
2.8 includes the following changes:
-
The RECOMMEND procedure is enhanced
to support a SIGNER= statement option.
-
A FORCESIGNER= option is added
to PROC LASR and the SAS LASR Analytic Server engine LIBNAME statement.
-
The SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop replace
the delivery of the SAS High-Performance Deployment for Hadoop.
FORCESIGNER= Option
Some sites deploy SAS LASR Analytic Server
to run as a service account. In these deployments, users connect through
SAS Visual Analytics and access controls are set in SAS metadata.
This option prevents the server from creating table signature files
when data is loaded into the server. Table signature files are an
operating system-level access control mechanism. Because the files
are not created, the server is forced to rely on the SAS LASR Authorization
Service for access control decisions.
SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop
In previous releases,
SAS offered the SAS High-Performance Deployment for Hadoop. Using that software was
one way to use a
co-located data provider for a distributed SAS LASR Analytic Server.
The SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop replace that software. You can use the plug-ins to configure
a commercial distribution so that it functions as a co-located data provider. This
is necessary for the use of SASHDAT files with SAS LASR Analytic Server.
For customers that currently
use the SAS High-Performance Deployment for Hadoop from
a previous release, the plug-ins can be used to update the existing
install to the latest release.
