In previous years, SAS/Genetics software was updated only when Base SAS software was released, but SAS/Genetics is now released independently of Base SAS software. This means that SAS/Genetics software can be released to customers when enhancements are ready, and the goal is to update SAS/Genetics every 12 to 18 months. To mark this newfound independence, the release numbering scheme for SAS/Genetics changed starting with SAS/Genetics 12.1. This new numbering scheme will be maintained when new versions of Base SAS and SAS/Genetics are shipped at the same time.
SAS/Genetics 12.3 is a maintenance release. No new features have been added. The information in this chapter applies to SAS/Genetics 12.1 and SAS/Genetics 12.3.
