Overview and Prerequisites

The process of initializing and configuring the service architecture consists of two main processes:
  1. Validating the service architecture framework and initializing extended monitoring
  2. Enabling the ACM, kit, and APM ETL framework, and initializing the APM ETL framework
In this chapter, <levelroot> refers to the fully qualified location of the LevN directory within your SAS configuration directory (for example, /opt/SAS/Config/Lev1).
Before you begin initializing and enabling the service architecture, ensure the following:
  • Ensure that you know the ID and password of the SAS installer account. These are external host credentials.
  • Ensure that you know the path to your SAS Environment Manager Solution Architecture framework directory. This directory is on the machine on which you deploy the service architecture framework, which is referred to as the SAS Environment Manager Enablement Kit Server. This machine is the machine containing the alphabetically first SAS Application Server context that contains a SAS Workspace Server.
The framework is deployed in the <levelroot>/Web/SASEnvironmentManager/emi-framework directory.
  • Ensure that your SAS deployment contains a functioning Stored Process server. The server must be defined on the SAS Environment Manager Enablement Kit Server, and it cannot be load balanced across multiple machines.
  • Ensure that you know the name of your SAS Application Server contexts on all of the hosts in your deployment.
  • Ensure that you know the SAS administration ID and password (for example, sasadm@saspw).
  • If you are deploying on multiple machines, ensure that the APM ETL has remote access (through NFS mounts or Windows shares) to the <levelroot> directory on each of the remote machines.
  • If you have configured your SAS deployment to use certificates, SSL, and the HTTPS protocol, rather than the HTTP protocol, confirm that you can use the HTTPS protocol to access SAS web applications.
  • If you are using AIX, add the sasevs@saspw account to the SAS Environment Managers Super User Role. Follow these steps:
    1. Select Managethen selectList Roles.
    2. Select Super User Role.
    3. In the Assigned Users area, select Add to List.
    4. Select the check box for sasevs@saspw in the Users table, click the plus (+) arrow, and then click OK.
