The following administration tasks are essential to enable the users in your organization to begin using SAS Intelligence Platform client applications to access and analyze your data.

Add users and manage access.	Standard security setup activities include the following: creating SAS administrators and regular SAS users managing access to metadata, data, and application functionality For details, see Security Tasks in the SAS Intelligence Platform: Security Administration Guide.
Establish connectivity to your data sources.	To enable the client applications in the SAS Intelligence Platform to access your data sources (including SAS data sets, third-party relational databases, and data from Enterprise Resource Planning systems), you must create metadata objects that represent your data. For example, to enable users to access data in a library of SAS data sets, you must define metadata objects that represent the SAS library and each of the tables in the library. Set up your metadata folder structure.	SAS Intelligence Platform clients use a hierarchy of SAS folders to store metadata for content such as libraries, tables, OLAP schemas, jobs, information maps, and reports. The initial structure provides private folders for individual users and provides a separate area for shared data. Within these folders, you should create a customized folder structure that meets your specific needs. For details, see Working with SAS Folders.
