Administering SAS OLAP Servers

Starting SAS OLAP Servers

SAS OLAP Servers are background processes that remain active until you need to stop or pause them. You stop or pause and resume SAS OLAP Servers to build or rebuild cubes, update cubes, tune cubes, change OLAP schemas, or change server properties. To maximize availability, OLAP servers are generally configured to start when their hosts are initialized. After you change server properties, you restart the host to restart the server. For the other server tasks, you can pause-and-resume the server without shutting it down.
