On Wednesday afternoon, following the SUGI 30 Closing Session, Ralph Kimball will offer a seminar on Dimensional Data.The seminar is $125 and includes lunch and course materials. Space is limited and seats are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dimensional Modeling Techniques: Building BI Systems That Are Simple and Fast
Ralph Kimball, Ralph Kimball Associates Inc.


In this workshop, Ralph will describe the main techniques of dimensional modeling, including the separation of dimensions and facts, slowly changing dimensions, conformed dimensions and facts, drilling across loosely coupled datamarts, the three fundamental fact table types, and organizing the delivery of physical tables for the best access in SAS data sets, OLAP cubes and relational databases.

Ralph Kimball is known worldwide as an innovator, writer, educator, speaker and consultant in the field of data warehousing. He has remained steadfast in his long-term conviction that data warehouses must be designed to be understandable and fast. His books on dimensional design techniques have become the all-time bestsellers in data warehousing. Ralph has written more than 100 articles and columns for Intelligent Enterprise and its predecessors, winning the Readers’ Choice Award five years in a row. Ralph received a Ph.D. in 1972 from Stanford in electrical engineering (specializing in man-machine systems).
