This course teaches SAS users how to generate analyses using either continuous or categorical response (dependent) variables.
Learn how to
- generate descriptive statistics and explore data with graphs
- perform analysis of variance and apply multiple comparison techniques
- perform linear regression and assess the assumptions
- identify potential outliers in multiple regression
- detect associations among categorical variables
- fit a multiple logistic regression model.

Prerequisites
Before attending this course, you should
- have completed an undergraduate course in statistics covering p-values, hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, and regression.
- be able to execute SAS programs and create SAS data sets. You can gain this experience by completing the SAS Programming I: Essentials course.

Introduction to Statistics
- examining data distributions
- obtaining and interpreting sample statistics using the UNIVARIATE and MEANS procedures
- constructing confidence intervals
- performing simple tests of hypothesis
- performing one-way ANOVA with the GLM procedure
- performing multiple comparisons
- performing two-way ANOVA with and without interactions
- producing scatter plots with the GPLOT procedure
- producing correlations with the CORR procedure
- fitting a simple linear regression model with the REG procedure
- understanding the concepts of multiple regression
- building and interpreting models
- examining residuals
- investigating influence and collinearity
- describing categorical data
- producing frequency tables with the FREQ procedure
- examining tests for general and linear association
- understanding the concepts of logistic regression
Software
This course addresses SAS/STAT. This course also addresses Base SAS software and touches on SAS/GRAPH software. You benefit from this course even if SAS/GRAPH software is not installed at your location.
Course Materials
Classroom: Students attend classroom courses in one of our public training centers. You receive
a hardcopy of the course notes and, in some courses, can choose to take home a copy of the course data.
Live Web: Students attend Live Web classes using a Web browser and a telephone and interact with their instructor and fellow classmates in real time. Each student receives an e-mail with instructions on how to join the class three business days before the class begins. The instructions e-mail includes a link to download the course materials. Students need to download and print the course materials prior to class.

System Requirements
For Live Web, you must
- review and follow the general system requirements.
- complete the course exercises through our virtual lab. The virtual lab allows you to access the software used in class over the Internet, so that you do not need this software on your local machine.
- run this
test to connect to a virtual lab session. If firewall problems prevent you from connecting to the virtual lab, then you will need the following software installed and configured in your environment to participate in the course exercises:
- Base SAS 9 or 8.2 under a Windows operating system;
SAS/STAT software; and SAS/GRAPH software; or
SAS Learning Edition.
Important:- Students using SAS Learning Edition will need to create a shortcut to the SAS windowing environment (SAS Explorer, Enhanced Editor, Log, and Output windows) for use during the class. Follow these instructions for creating a shortcut to SAS prior to class.
- If you are using Enterprise Guide rather than writing SAS programs in the Enhanced Editor, this class is not an appropriate offering.
- Base SAS 9 or 8.2 under a Windows operating system;
SAS/STAT software; and SAS/GRAPH software; or
SAS Learning Edition.
