What is your favorite training course and why?
SAS Data Integration Studio. This training covers some of the core capabilities of SAS, the ability to reach into the diverse databases and the ability to effectively prepare the data for analytics.

Do you have any hobbies, favorite activities, or hidden talents?
I used to run long distance. Now I run short stretches on the soccer field. I hope to keep that up for a few more years. After that I will start spending more time on my new hobby: mowing grass.

What are your favorite apps (iPhone, iPad, etc.)?
I don't have any apps but my favorite proc is Proc SQL. This proc is versatile, user friendly, and can handle complex business tasks. It packs a one-two punch with its support for implicit and explicit pass-through. It handles horizontal combinations with the join operators as well as vertical combinations with the set operators. Proc SQL powers a number of transformation in SAS Data Integration Studio. This proc rocks.

If you could share a meal with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Rather than a meal, I would love to sit down for a beer with Richard Feynman, the distinguished humorist and comedian who doubled as a scientist.

What is your favorite movie, book, artist, or musician?
Favorite book: Little Tricker the Squirrel by Ken Kesey. I read it out loud with my family at Christmas until my voice goes out impersonating Big Double the Bear. Another favorite: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig. The contrast between the analytical and the romantic view of a motorcycle also applies to (SAS) programs.

Are you passionate about a particular sports team?
I root for the Dutch national soccer team.

What are your favorite Web sites?
2048 and SAS Product Documentation
