Prerequisites
Before attending this course, you should be able to
  • submit SAS programs on your operating system
  • use a LIBNAME statement
  • understand the structure of a SAS data set
  • write a DATA step using Version 8 statements and options
  • be familiar with the Version 8 features of Base SAS procedures such as PRINT, SORT, and FREQ
  • use SAS functions, formats, and informats.

Introduction to SAS 9
  • defining SAS 9
  • identifying the major features and enhancements
  • recognizing compatibility issues
  • identifying ODS enhancements
  • investigating the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office
Enhancements to SAS Procedures
  • using multi-threaded processing in the SORT, SQL, and MEANS procedures
  • investigating enhancements to existing SAS procedures such as FORMAT and FREQ
  • using the new MIGRATE procedure
  • using the new POWER procedure
  • using the new GBARLINE procedure
  • using the new GAREABAR procedure
SAS Language Enhancements
  • using new system options
  • searching character strings using new SAS functions and Perl regular expressions
  • employing longer format and informat names
  • using new macro language enhancements
New Libname Engines
  • accessing Microsoft Access data using the SAS/ACCESS to Microsoft Access libname engine for Windows and UNIX
  • accessing Microsoft Excel data using the SAS/ACCESS to Microsoft Excel libname engine for Windows and UNIX
Additional Features
  • using new options in the Import and Export Wizards
  • using new options in the IMPORT and EXPORT procedures

Software
This course addresses Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH, SAS Enterprise Guide. This course is not appropriate for customers without access to SAS 9.
