This course presents the new features and enhancements included in SAS 9.

Learn how to

connect to Microsoft Access and Excel data using new LIBNAME engines
write out duplicate observations to a new SAS data set using new SORT procedure options
manipulate character data with new SAS functions and Perl Regular Expressions
write out date values using new date formats
customize your SAS session with new system options
use multi-threaded processing in the SORT, SQL, and MEANS procedures
use new macro language enhancements
migrate data sets to SAS 9
output data using new Output Delivery System features.

Who should attend

SAS programmers who have taken the SAS Programming I: Essentials and SAS Programming II: Manipulating Data with the DATA Step courses, or have the equivalent working knowledge of SAS

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, you should be able to

submit SAS programs on your operating system
use a LIBNAME statement
understand the structure of a SAS data set
write a DATA step using Version 8 statements and options
be familiar with the Version 8 features of Base SAS procedures such as PRINT, SORT, and FREQ
use SAS functions, formats, and informats.

using the new MIGRATE procedure
using the new POWER procedure
using the new GBARLINE procedure
using the new GAREABAR procedure

SAS Language Enhancements

using new system options
searching character strings using new SAS functions and Perl regular expressions
employing longer format and informat names
using new macro language enhancements

New Libname Engines

accessing Microsoft Access data using the SAS/ACCESS to Microsoft Access libname engine for Windows and UNIX
accessing Microsoft Excel data using the SAS/ACCESS to Microsoft Excel libname engine for Windows and UNIX

This course addresses Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH, SAS Enterprise Guide. This course is not appropriate for customers without access to SAS 9.
