Problem Note 20931: ERROR: "Could not connect to SMTP host: mailhost.yourcompany.com" when
starting SAS Remote/Foundation Services
When starting SAS Remote/Foundation Services, you might see and error similar to
Could not connect to SMTP host: mailhost.yourcompany.com
written to the SAS Remote Services command window.
The problem occurs when the mail host for alert notifications is not
defined.
To circumvent the problem, define the mail host via the Configuration
Manager plug-in for SAS Management Console.
Instructions are available in chapter 8 of the SAS Solutions Services 1.4 System
Administration Guide, under the heading "Configuring Applications Using
the SAS Management Console". You will also see a sub-header with
instructions to "Modify E-mail Settings".
