Usage Note 20753: SAS hangs when invoked on Unix
SAS may hang when you attempt to start a SAS session.
This problem could be caused by the filelocking daemons (statd and
lockd) not communicating correctly on the system.
To test this, add the following option to your SAS invocation:
-filelocks none
NOTE: SAS Institute does not recommend running normal jobs with this
option, as data set corruption can occur. Use -FILELOCKS NONE only for
debugging problems with your SAS installation.
If the problem is verified, your system administrator will need to
recycle the filelocking daemons.
If recycling the filelocking daemons does not solve the problem,
check to see if you are running Veritas Storage Foundation with
Maintenance Pack 1. This maintenance level causes SAS to hang on
initialization. Veritas recommends upgrading to at least Maintenance
Pack 3 to correct this problem.
