Usage Note 16861: ERROR: Access denied.Authentication failed on HP Itanium using PAM/LDAP
Authentication may fail with the following error when the SAS server is
on an HP Itanium system using PAM/LDAP. SASAUTH will fail to
authenticate the user.
ERROR: Access denied.Authentication failed.
To correct the problem, add the following lines to the /etc/pam.conf
file if using Kerberos.
sasauth auth sufficient /usr/lib/security/$ISA/libpam_krb5.so.1
sasauth auth required /usr/lib/security/$ISA/libpam_unix.so.1
try_first_pass
sasauth account sufficient /usr/lib/security/$ISA/libpam_krb5.so.1
sasauth account required /usr/lib/security/$ISA/libpam_unix.so.1
sasauth session sufficient /usr/lib/security/$ISA/libpam_krb5.so.1
sasauth session required /usr/lib/security/$ISA/libpam_unix.so.1
Note: If Kerberos is not used, then omit the krb5.so.1 entries listed
above.
Executing the following command will verify if Kerberos is being used.
ls /usr/lib/security/*/libpam_krb5.so.1
