Usage Note 13370: Local ActiveX and Java graphs might not initially display in Internet
Explorer on Windows XP with Service Pack 2
When attempting to open a local HTML file containing an ActiveX or Java
graph in Internet Explorer after application of Service Pack 2, the
graph may not initially display. Instead of a graph, you will see the
following message in your browser window:
Sorry, there was a problem with the graph control or plugin in your
browser. The graph "description of graph" cannot display.
In addition to this, you will also see an information bar near the top
of your IE window with the following message:
To help protect your security, IE has restricted this file from
showing active content that could access your computer. Click here
for options.
If you left-mouse click on the information bar, you will be able to
select an option that says "Allow blocked content". This will allow the
current graph to display.
To configure Internet Explorer to prevent the information bar from
displaying each time you display an ActiveX or Java graph, from IE,
select TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS, then the ADVANCED tab. Scroll down
in the list of options under the ADVANCED tab until you find the
Security settings. Under the Security options, enable the following
option:
Allow active content to run files on My Computer.
After enabling the option above, close Internet Explorer and restart it.
