Usage Note 12340: Problem connecting to Workspace Server and Stored Process Server if the
Metadata Server cannot authenticate the Object Spawner
The Object Spawner connects to the Metadata Server by using the sastrust
account. If the sastrust user ID and password that appear in
C:\SAS\BIArchitecture\Lev1\SASMain\ObjectSpawner\OMRConfig.xml do not
match the user ID and password stored in the metadata and on the
operating system, the following error message appears in the log of the
Object Spawner:
ERROR: An attempt to communicate with the SAS Metadata Server failed.
20040229:22.02.47.92: 00000000:ERROR: Error authenticating user
sastrust in function LogonUser. Error 1326 (Logon failure:
unknown user name or bad password. ).
20040229:22.02.47.92: 00000000:ERROR: Access denied.
Note: The log of the Object Spawner is located in
c:\SAS\BIArchitecture\Lev1\SASMain\ObjectSpawner\logs\.
To fix this problem, you must verify that the encoded form of the
password for sastrust file is accurate. It is stored in OMRConfig.xml.
Use PROC PWENCODE in a SAS session to produce the encoded form of
password for the sastrust account and compare that to the encoded
form of the password that is stored in OMRConfig.xml.
The general form of PROC PWENCODE is as follows:
PROC PWENCODE IN="your-pw";
RUN;
After you submit the code, the encoded password appears in the SAS
Log window.
If you determine that the encoded password in OMRConfig.xml is not
accurate, cut and paste the correct encoded password from the SAS Log
window to the OMRConfig.xml.
