Usage Note 8131: Considerations when upgrading MXG in ITRM/ITSV

The following is a checklist of items to review before making an MXG upgrade within a given release of IT Resource Management (a.k.a. IT Service Vision). While some newer versions of MXG have not been fully tested with ITRM, in general we do not anticipate any problems. In the event that a problem occurs using MXG and IT Resource Management:

Make a backup of any any PDB that may be affected by the MXG upgrade.

Each release of ITRM has a version of MXG that was used to create the image for this specific release of ITRM. The table below contains this information. If a subsequent version of MXG becomes available, any new variables introduced in this version will not be defined in the ITRM dictionary table definitions. This basically means that any new variables in the upgraded version of MXG will not be available.

Check for any customizations made to the MXG user SOURCLIB or any ITSV customizations specific to the current MXG version being used.

Customers upgrading to MXG21.03 (and beyond) should refer to #011070 and #011439 for information regarding changes in MXG that affect ITRM.

Customers upgrading to MXG21.21 should refer to #011070 for information regarding changes in the MXG VMACDB2 member that may affect ITRM.

MXG Technical Newsletter FORTY-FIVE documents MXG's full support for SAS 9.1.2 and SAS 9.1.3 via MXG version 22.09. Note that this version of MXG is not required to run ITRM 2.7 in SAS 9. This is because the changes made in MXG22.09 have already been incorporated into ITRM, namely the config option S2. The only other critical items are the changes to MXGSASV9 JCL proc and tape-sequential engine, which ITRM does not use.

Customers upgrading to MXG23.03 (and beyond) should refer to #015120 for information regarding changes in MXG that affect ITRM.

Customers upgrading to MXG25.02 and plan to use the CONFIGV8 SOURCLIB member with SAS8, should remove the SAS System option SORTEQUALS. The SORTEQUALS SAS System option does not exist in SAS 8.
