Problem Note 5645: defaultAttribute SCL usage incorrectly documented in the SAS System Help
The SAS System online help states that
variable = object;
retrieves the value of the defaultAttribute for the object. This is
incorrect. Instead VARIABLE is assigned the objectID, not the
defaultAttribute value. Additionally, it states that
str = textentry1;
is equivalent to
str = textentry1.text;
when the text attribute is the defaultAttribute for TEXTENTRY1. This is
also incorrect. You must use dot syntax or the _getAttributeValue or
_setAttributeValue methods when retreiving or assigning a value to an
attribute.
