Usage Note 5091: Location of SUGI 26 Paper by Olson and Ray: SAS 9 - Scaling the
Future
Diane Olson and Robert Ray presented a paper on SAS 9 at SUGI 26.
The report on the SUGI 26 website stated:
Looking ahead, SAS users eagerly anticipate the future release of SAS
SAS 9, code-named Project Mercury. Packed crowds filled the
SAS 9 presentation sessions to learn about the future of
information analysis and visualization, and the new SAS Scalable
Architecture (SSA). "SSA is a large part of Project Mercury," said
Diane Olson, a base SAS developer, in her presentation with
fellow developer Robert Ray. Olson says SSA is a revolutionary plan
that will scale portions of SAS to leverage symmetric multi-processing
(SMP) hardware, so users can process complex tasks more quickly than
ever before.
