Problem Note 3159: Datetime value that contains AM or PM is typed incorrectly
When you have a datetime value in the form of mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss AM or
mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss PM, the IMPORT WIZARD, PROC IMPORT, and EFI assign
the variable's type incorrectly. The variable receives an INFORMAT
and FORMAT of MMDDYYw.. The datetime value is not in a valid format
for a SAS datetime value, however the AM or PM in the field value
should cause the variable to receive an INFORMAT of $w. or $CHARw..
Due to the INFORMAT of MMDDYYw. for the datetime value, you receive an
INVALID DATA message in the SAS Log.
The circumvention is to recall the generated DATA step code and modify
the INFORMAT, FORMAT and INPUT statement to read the datetime value as
character.
