Problem Note 2751: Cursor shape may change from hourglass to arrow while a SUBMIT block is
executing behind a FRAME entry
If you are executing SAS code or SAS Component Language (SCL) code from
the INIT label of a SAS/AF FRAME entry and you move the mouse cursor
outside of the display window of the FRAME entry, the mouse cursor shape
may change from an hourglass to an arrow. The cursor shape will revert
back to an hourglass shape when you move the mouse cursor back into the
display window. Although the arrow-shaped mouse cursor outside of the
display window of the FRAME entry implies that code is not executing,
the code is still executing. You may see this behavior in Version 8
releases of the SAS System that precede Release 8.2; it has been fixed
in Release 8.2.
Starting in Version 8, you may separately observe a similar change in
the shape of the mouse cursor if you are executing SAS or SCL code from
a labeled section other than the INIT label of a FRAME entry. In this
instance, the mouse cursor shape may change from an hourglass to an
arrow if you either move the mouse cursor outside of the AF window or
over a region (control or V6 legacy object) within your FRAME entry.
The cursor shape will revert back to an hourglass shape when you move
the mouse cursor back into the display window and/or off of a region
within the FRAME entry. As is the case with code executing from the
INIT label, your SAS or SCL code is still executing even though the
arrow-shaped mouse cursor implies that code is not executing. This
behavior will not change in future releases of the SAS System.
