Problem Note 1727: FEXIST function does not honor fileref set as environment variable
The FEXIST function in both Source Component Language (SCL) and the
datastep does not recognize a fileref that was set as an environment
variable.
To circumvent the problem, use the FILENAME statement to assign the
fileref instead. The FILENAME statement can be placed in an autoexec
file so the fileref is available when SAS is invoked.
