Problem Note 1700: Characters may be appended to value entered in column with informat
If you are editing a character column in the VIEWTABLE window, the
Analyst application, or in a Data Table object in a SAS/AF FRAME entry,
and the column has an informat other than the standard character
informat of $w., you may see extra characters appended to the value
entered once you press ENTER. Columns affected by this problem include
those with informats such as $CHARw. and $UPCASEw.
For example, if you are editing the values of STYLE in the SAS table
SASUSER.HOUSES and you change the value "CONDO" to "DUPLEX", you may see
a value such as "DUPLEXso" display in the cell once you press ENTER.
Note that there is no specific set of characters or pattern to the
characters appended to your data values.
To circumvent the problem, you can use the $w. informat in place of the
one currently defined to the column if possible. Another alternative
would be to edit the data in the FSEDIT window if you have SAS/FSP
licensed.
