Problem Note 1673: SAS/Access to Oracle on SAS V8 Production for Windows hangs when using
Oracle Open Clients V7.3.3 or earlier
When using SAS/Access Interface to Oracle with the SAS System Version 8
and the Oracle Open Clients V7.3.3 or earlier, your SAS session will
hang when you select a table for viewing in the SAS Explorer window
(using the LIBNAME engine).
The LIBNAME to Oracle is assigned successfully and the tables are
displayed in the SAS Explorer window when the LIBNAME is select; however
when you select the table to view, or use a PROC or datastep to
reference the table, the SAS System will hang.
This is a problem with Oracle Open Client Versions 7.3.3 or earlier. To
resolve this problem, you will need to install Oracle Open Client
Version 7.3.4 or later. The SAS System Version 8 System Requirements
will be updated to reflect this requirement.
