Problem Note 1447: PROC UNIVARIATE with PLOT and BY hangs or issues Invalid Operation error
PROC UNIVARIATE will either issue an Invalid Operation error or the SAS
session may hang when the PLOT option is specified, a BY statement is
used and an analysis variable has all missing values in one or more of
the BY groups.
To circumvent this problem, omit the PLOT option from the PROC
UNIVARIATE statement and use other procedures to create the plots. Box
plots can be generated using the BOXCHART statement in PROC SHEWHART or
by specifying the option I=BOX on a SYMBOL statement and using PROC
GPLOT. Probability plots can be generated with the QQPLOT statement in
PROC CAPABILITY.
