Problem Note 1236: SAS/ACCESS to Teradata inserts blanks instead of Teradata NULL values
When SAS/ACCESS to Teradata is used to update or append to an existing
Teradata table, the SAS/ACCESS engine will insert blanks for a SAS
character missing value. Normally, a missing value in a Teradata table
is represented as a special, NULL value.
When SAS/ACCESS is used to create a Teradata table, the SAS/ACCESS
engine does correctly use the Teradata NULL value.
If a user attempts to query these blank values from a SAS application,
the NULL values and blanks will both be translated to SAS missing
values. Therefore, users will only notice this inconsistency if they
have Teradata applications that depend on Teradata NULL values.
