Operating Systems dropped from SAS 9.2

Read the statement of support for the following operating systems.

Statement of Support for Windows NT 4

October 2006

In conjunction with Microsoft's decision to end mainstream and extended support for the Windows NT 4 operating system, SAS will no longer provide software for this operating system after SAS 9.1.3 and will assist customers in migrating to other operating systems.

Modified Technical Support
Upon release of SAS 9.2, Technical Support will be provided at Level C.

Migration
SAS continually monitors the worldwide market for operating system viability to ensure that our products are available across the most commonly accepted operating systems. Accordingly, SAS software is offered on many other operating system platforms and existing customer may migrate their SAS license to a different operating system at any time. To assist our customers with migration to another platform, we offer the following:

Customers interested in migrating from Windows NT 4 to another operating system supported by SAS may contact their SAS account representative to initiate the process. Customers with questions about their SAS account representative may call 1-800-727-0025 for assistance between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern time.

Statement of Support for Tru64 UNIX

October 2006

In conjunction with Hewlett-Packard's decision to direct their efforts towards other operating systems, SAS will no longer provide software for use on Tru64 after SAS 9.1.3 and will assist customers in migrating to another operating system.

Modified Technical Support
Upon release of SAS 9.2, Technical Support will be provided at Level B. Level C Technical Support will commence on the earlier of a) January 1, 2009, or b) the date Hewlett-Packard discontinues support for this operating system.

Statement of Support for Open VMS Alpha

August 2007

Based on input from customers and changing market conditions, SAS is making adjustments to its product roadmap. SAS plans to deliver SAS 9.2 Foundation products on OpenVMS 8.3 for HP Integrity Server with Intel® Itanium® 2 CPUs.

SAS Foundation is available for OpenVMS on Alpha with SAS 9.1.3 and is supported in accordance with the license agreement and Technical Support policies. Future releases of SAS are not planned to support OpenVMS on Alpha architecture.

Migration

SAS monitors the worldwide market for operating system viability to ensure that our products are available across the most commonly accepted operating systems. Accordingly, SAS software is offered on many operating system platforms. Existing customers have to option to migrate their SAS license to a different operating system at any time. SAS helps customers facilitate the transition to another platform with the following migration assistance:

Linux for Itanium-based Systems

October 2006

Based on market conditions and SAS corporate objectives and strategies, SAS will not include the Linux on Itanium operating system in SAS 9.2. SAS will continue to provide Technical Support for Linux on Itanium for prior releases such as SAS 9.1.3, at Level A.
