One of the most common problems new users run into is not keeping their virtual machine running in the background. The virtual machine enables SAS University Edition to establish a connection with your web browser. You can minimize the virtualization software window, but you cannot close it until you are finished using SAS University Edition.

Your virtual machine is running properly if the black terminal-style window is open in the background and is displaying localhost:10080.
