How do I create a shared folder in VirtualBox?

To create a shared folder in VirtualBox, you must first create a folder named SASUniversityEdition and a subfolder named myfolders in a location that you will remember. Then use the Machine menu to open the Settings dialog box and share the myfolders folder with VirtualBox.
  1. On your local computer, create a SASUniversityEdition folder (in a location that you will remember and that does not require administrative rights to access) and then create the myfolders subfolder. You will save all your SAS University Edition files to this folder.

    Note The name of the shared folder is case sensitive and should not include any spaces or special characters.

  2. In VirtualBox, select Machine > Settings. The Settings dialog box appears.

  3. In the navigation pane, select Shared Folders, and click .

    The Add Share dialog box appears.

  4. From the Folder Path drop-down list, select Other.

  5. In the Browse for Folder dialog box, open the SASUniversityEdition folder and select the myfolders folder.

    Note The name of the shared folder is case sensitive and should not include any spaces or special characters.

    Click OK.

  6. In the Add Share dialog box:
    • Verify that the Read-only option is not selected.
    • Select the Auto-mount and Make Permanent (if available) options.
    Click OK to close the Add Share dialog box.

  7. In the Settings dialog box, click OK.
