SAS University Edition: Help Center

Will my license for SAS University Edition expire?

A valid license (often referred to as a SETINIT) is required to run SAS University Edition. You automatically receive this license when you download the SAS University Edition vApp or when you create your instance of SAS University Edition in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace. These licenses expire annually on July 31. So, for example, if you downloaded the first release of the SAS University Edition in May 2014, your license will expire July 31, 2015.

Several months before the expiration date, SAS University Edition releases an update that includes the authorization code that renews your software license. When you receive this update, renew your software license when prompted and accept the Terms & Conditions from SAS. You do not need to wait until the expiration date to renew your license. For more information, see How do I update to the latest release of SAS University Edition?

If you do not accept the Terms & Conditions, the license is not renewed and the software will stop working after your current license expires. After the license expires, you might decide that you want to use SAS University Edition again. To do so, you can download it from the Download SAS University Edition page, or you can access SAS University Edition from the AWS Marketplace.
