How do I run JupyterLab in SAS University Edition using VMware Workstation Player or VMware Fusion?

In order to run JupyterLab in SAS University Edition, you must first add the SAS University Edition vApp to VMware Workstation Player or VMware Fusion. When you specify the URL to run JupyterLab, you must specify the port number for JupyterLab. The specific steps depend on your operating environment.

  1. Follow the steps for your operating system to add the SAS University Edition vApp to VMware Workstation Player.

    Note If you want to access files from or save files to your local computer from JupyterLab in SAS University Edition, you must also set up a shared folder. For more information, see the following topics:
  2. In the left pane of VMware Workstation Player, select the SAS University Edition vApp. In the right pane, click Play virtual machine.

    Note If prompted to download software updates, click Remind me later.

  3. In the Welcome window, note the URL for SAS University Edition (in this example, http://123.456.789.101) and enter the URL in your web browser on your local computer.

    When the SAS University Edition Information Center opens, click start JupyterLab to run JupyterLab in SAS University Edition (shown in this display).

    Note You can minimize the Welcome window, but do not close it until you are finished using JupyterLab in SAS University Edition. JupyterLab in SAS University Edition cannot run if the virtual machine is not running.
  1. Follow the steps for your operating system to add the SAS University Edition vApp to VMware Fusion.

    Note If you want to access files from or save files to your local computer from JupyterLab in SAS University Edition, you must also set up a shared folder. For more information, see the following topics:
  2. In VMWare Fusion, select Virtual Machine > Start Up.

    Note If prompted to download software updates, click Don't upgrade.

  3. In the Welcome window, note the URL for SAS University Edition (in this example, http://123.456.789.101) and enter the URL in your web browser on your local computer.
