SAS University Edition: Help Center

How can I read SAS data sets with different encodings in SAS University Edition?

SAS University Edition is configured to connect to the SAS Unicode Server. The SAS session encoding is UTF-8. Users have no control to change this SAS session encoding.

When you need to read a SAS data set with encodings other than UTF-8, especially a data set that includes national or special characters, the display for those characters might be incorrect.

To work around this issue, you can run code to convert your current data set to UTF-8 encoding, or you can modify your LIBNAME statement. For more information, see SAS Usage Note 54794.
