SAS® 9.2: Planning for Availability
To facilitate your upgrade process and implementation planning, please note the plans for the availability of SAS 9.2:
SAS 9.2 Phase 1 is now available. Additional products will be made available through a multi-phased release. If you install SAS 9.2 Phase 1, you should plan to upgrade to SAS 9.2 Phase 2 when it is available. This will involve re-installing SAS software, as new functionality will not be delivered via a maintenance process or hot fixes. After SAS 9.2 Phase 2 is available, SAS will provide maintenance releases for SAS 9.2, such that a full re-install may not be required in the future.
Notes about the phased releases of SAS 9.2:
- Hot fixes will continue to be released to address critical problems for SAS 9.2.
- You should upgrade to SAS 9.2 Phase 2 when it is available. Any new functionality released during SAS 9.2 will only be accessible via the SAS 9.2 Phase 2 release and subsequent maintenance releases for SAS 9.2 Phase 2.
- The SAS software installation tool, the SAS Deployment Wizard, will support the re-installation of the SAS®9 software when upgrading to SAS 9.2 Phase 2.
- If additional software modules or products are licensed after SAS 9.2 Phase 2 is available, the installation process will automatically update your baseline software to SAS 9.2 Phase 2. Existing SAS content will not be impacted.
- PC-SAS customers can continue to run SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 with SAS 9.2. This configuration is supported only for PC-based local configurations of SAS Enterprise Guide. SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 will be released later in 2008 with full support for remote configurations as well as local configurations.
