Users Groups - US
SAS® users groups create opportunities for SAS users to connect across the nation, while supporting and fostering an environment of growth, development and education among SAS users. These groups are volunteer organizations run by SAS users.

Local Users Group
Local users groups (LUGs) are intended for SAS software users from different organizations within a specific geographic area, for example, a city, county, or part or all of a state. Because of the close proximity of the members, these groups meet throughout the year based on their needs. These groups bring together a broad range of user backgrounds, yet they are generally smaller than regional groups.
In-House Users Group
In-house users groups (IUGs) are composed of users within a single organization, as opposed to local users groups which may have members from many different organizations. IUGs may consist of users from one site or branches of the same organization. While in-house groups may not have the broad perspective of outside expertise, they are able to handle confidential topics and use actual data in discussions.
Special-Interest Users Group
Special-interest users groups serve users within a specific operational area (i.e. Specific SAS software product such as SAS Enterprise Guide, Industry Vertical such as retail or manufacturing, Independent Consultants, or Internet based groups). Some meet frequently, others on an annual basis.
Regional Users Group
Regional users groups (RUGs) exist to serve SAS users within a defined geographic area, which generally includes several US states. These groups traditionally hold annual, multiple-day conferences within their region. They may also provide outreach and services throughout the year to local and/or special-interest groups within their region. Each RUG operates independently, and is guided by its own Executive Committee, who determines the services it will offer and the frequency, length, and content of its' conferences. RUG conferences are similar to, but generally smaller in scope, than SAS Global Forum.
