Have concerns about running SAS Enterprise Guide on 64-bit Windows? Read Should you care about 64-bit applications?, an informative and concise blog post from Chris Hemedinger.

SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3

To upgrade to SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3, see the appropriate documentation for your version of SAS:

SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2

Compatibility and migration issues are mentioned in Special Considerations for Customers Upgrading to SAS® 9.2.

For detailed information, see "Migration to SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2" in Administering SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2.

See also SAS Intelligence Platform: Migration Guide.

See also SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office and SAS Intelligence Platform and Business Intelligence.

SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1

SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 can open Enterprise Guide 3.0, 2.1, or 2.0 projects and convert them to Enterprise Guide 4.1 format. The projects are saved with the 3.0 and later file extension, which is .egp. The 2.0 and 2.1 file extension is .seg. For more information, see the SAS Enterprise Guide documentation, which is available from within the product.

See also Administering SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 and other online documentation. The SAS Enterprise Guide Explorer has replaced the SAS Enterprise Guide Administrator and is available from within SAS Enterprise Guide. You can use the SAS Enterprise Guide Explorer to add, modify, and delete Open Metadata Repository (OMR) resources, such as servers and users.

SAS Enterprise Guide 3.0

SAS Enterprise Guide 3.0 can open Enterprise Guide 2.0 or 2.1 projects and convert them to Enterprise Guide 3.0 format. The projects are saved with the 3.0 file extension, which is .egp. The 2.0 and 2.1 file extension is .seg. For more information, see the SAS Enterprise Guide documentation, which is available from within the product.

See also SAS Enterprise Guide 3.0 Administrator: User's Guide. A network administrator can use the SAS Enterprise Guide Administrator to perform setup and management tasks for SAS Enterprise Guide users. For example, you can set up a metadata repository.

Peaceful Coexistence of Multiple Versions

You can install and run SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3, 4.2, 4.1, 3.0, 2.1, and 2.0 on the same machine. If you are installing two versions, install the earlier version first.

SAS 9.3 and SAS 9.2 for Windows include SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3. (Early releases of SAS 9.2 included Enterprise Guide 4.2.) If you run the version of Enterprise Guide 4.3 that ships with SAS 9.2 against SAS 9.3 servers, make sure you apply all the hotfixes for Enterprise Guide 4.3, as some compatibility issues have been addressed. If you run the version of Enterprise Guide 4.3 that ships with SAS 9.3, the hotfixes are already applied.

You can run SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 against SAS 9.2 servers, but not against SAS 9.1.3 or SAS 8.2 servers.

If you install SAS 9.2 and you continue to use SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 and Add-In for Microsoft Office 2.1, you might experience an error due to conflicting DLLs. To fix the error, you must restore the SAS 9.1.3 versions of these DLLs. See SAS Note 33988.

SAS 9.1.3 service pack 4 for Windows includes SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1. You can run Enterprise Guide 4.1 against SAS 8.2 and SAS®9 servers.

SAS 9.1.3 service pack 3 for Windows includes SAS Enterprise Guide 3.0. You can run Enterprise Guide 3.0 against SAS 8.2 and SAS®9 servers.

SAS 9.1.2 for Windows includes SAS Enterprise Guide 2.1. You can run Enterprise Guide 2.1 against SAS 8.2 and SAS®9 servers.

For SAS Enterprise Guide 2.0, if you apply the hotfix 20EG11, then you can run Enterprise Guide 2.0 against SAS 8.2 and SAS®9 servers.
