SAS Data Quality Server is part of SAS Enterprise Data Integration Server and is also licensed as a stand-alone product.
Starting in Version 9, the SAS Data Quality Server cleanses and analyzes data for localized languages. This is accomplished with a Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) for your particular language and region. Because of this enhancement, some syntax has changed from Release 8.2. If you are upgrading from Release 8.2, you must adopt the new procedure names and function names.
If you use DataFlux dfPower Studio, you want the schemes and match codes to be compatible with SAS Data Quality Server. Here are our best suggestions:
| SAS Product | DataFlux Products |
|---|---|
| SAS Data Quality Server 9.1.3 | dfPower Studio 7.0.x
DataFlux Integration Server 7.0.x |
| SAS Data Quality Server 9.2 | dfPower Studio 8.x
DataFlux Integration Server 8.x |
If you use dfPower Studio 7.1.2 you might get different results compared to running the same standardization or match analysis in SAS 9.1.3. Therefore stay with 7.0.x if this compatibility is important.
You can run DataFlux version 7 and version 8 on the same machine, but you must keep separate copies of your QKB, management repositories, and so forth. When you install DataFlux version 8 on a machine that has version 7 installed, a dialog box asks whether you want to upgrade jobs, and so forth. When you migrate these items to version 8, you cannot access them with DataFlux version 7 or SAS Data Quality Server 9.1.3 any more. SAS 9.1.3 and DataFlux version 8 products cannot interact.
Be sure to back up the QKB you are using with DataFlux version 7, as well as the management resources directory, before you start the installation process of version 8.
In addition, if you want to run DataFlux Integration Server version 7 and version 8 simultaneously on the same machine, both of them must be defined as a service on the machine. You need two versions of the DataFlux Batch Scheduler service and two versions of the DataFlux Integration Server service. The easiest method is to edit the registry before you install version 8, effectively renaming the existing services (for example, from "DFIntegrationService" to "DFIntegrationService_7"). It is recommended to change the display name as well (there are several registry keys that have to be touched). Then, when you install version 8, the version 8 instance of the service will be installed, and it will not replace the existing (renamed) service. Modify the configuration file of DataFlux Integration Server to ensure that the services are assigned to different ports.
