SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office

Peaceful Coexistence of Multiple Versions
You can install Add-In for Microsoft Office 4.2 and 2.1 on the same computer. Microsoft Windows 2000 is not supported for Add-In for Microsoft Office 4.2.
Only one version of Add-In for Microsoft Office can be active (registered for use) at a time. In Add-In for Microsoft Office 4.2, you can use the SwitcherUtility to switch between versions 2.1 and 4.2. For information about switching between versions, see the Help that is available from Add-In for Microsoft Office 4.2.
Add-In for Microsoft Office 2.1 is not allowed to connect to the SAS 9.2 Metadata Server. Add-In for Microsoft Office 4.2 is not allowed to connect to the SAS 9.1.3 Metadata Server. The connection profiles are completely separate and are stored separately. A best practice is to provide good descriptions to your profile definitions so you can distinguish between SAS 9.1.3 and SAS 9.2 profiles.
