Migration

SAS Integration Technologies

See the SAS Integration Technologies technical overview for migration and compatibility information. Here are some highlights: SAS 9.1 Integration Technologies continues to support storage of metadata on a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory server, or in flat configuration files in the LDAP Data Interchange Format (LDIF). However, some of the new features are available only with the new architecture. If you want to take advantage of those features, you must migrate to the SAS Open Metadata Architecture.

Peaceful Coexistence of SAS 8.2 and SAS 9

You can run SAS 8.2 and SAS 9 Integration Technologies servers on the same machine at the same time. Known compatibility issues are below. As always, check user documentation and installation documentation for details.

• You must use separate TCP/IP ports for load-balanced servers (or dependant spawners), operator ports, and communication ports for each SAS release.
  
  
• The configuration file for the SAS Integration Technologies object spawner does not differ much between releases and can be shared, but doing that properly can be difficult. Therefore it is not recommended.
