SAS^® 9.2 Deployment Tester, AIX System Tuning

SAS 9.2 Deployment Tester, AIX System Tuning support is an optional test suite for SAS Enterprise BI environments running under AIX 5L Version 5.3. The suite is intended for AIX and SAS system administrators to optimize their AIX environment for performance, in accordance with the best practices outlined in the SAS AIX 5L and AIX 6 Tuning Guide.

Implementation Overview

The AIX system tuning test suite is delivered in UNIX tar format. Using the supplied instructions in the README file within the package, the support is deployed into the SAS deployment’s configuration directory. The package includes a configuration script for integration into the Deployment Tester Server environment.

Execution of the provided test results in output similar to the AIX "diff" command. This output displays OS parameters and values which do not match the recommended values as outlined in the SAS AIX 5 Tuning Guide. SAS 9.2 will continue to execute properly if system parameters do not match their recommended values, however, configuring the system parameters to match those outlined in this test suite will result in optimal performance for SAS 9.2 Enterprise BI applications.

The test suite interrogates the AIX configuration and ascertains the value of the following parameters:
