Table Templates


Overview

For most SAS procedures, a template specifies the format for table output. You can use PROC TEMPLATE to modify the table definitions in table templates. In addition, PROC TEMPLATE can create columns based on other columns, translate values from one to another, and so on. This is a very powerful procedure that is only touched on in the SAS Notes.

Procedures that don't have templates, such as PRINT, REPORT, and TABULATE, cannot be modified in this way. Instead, use methods that modify the style definitions for ODS HTML. See the large ODS HTML section in the SAS Notes and Concepts for ODS. For procedures that don't have templates, all the ODS HTML examples are applicable except for the table templates examples below.
