FOCUS AREAS

In Two Dimensions

To explore two-dimensional relationships, plot all variables pairwise in a scatter plot matrix. When you find a plot of interest, zoom in to explore it in more detail.

You can adjust axes, set marker sizes, and point and click to identify unusual observations. To explore correlations, use mean or prediction confidence ellipses. Calculate the correlation matrix or p-values of the correlations to confirm numerically the relationships you find visually.

To visualize ordered data, create overlaid line plots. Set line patterns and widths to improve printed output.

To explore categorical data, create mosaic plots. In all graphs, you can double-click on observations to examine their values.
