Graphics

The Analyst Application offers a wide range of graphics, including histograms, box-and-whisker plots, probability plots, scatter plots, contour plots, and surface plots. In addition, you can request that plots be produced along with other statistical results as you perform an analytical task. For example, when you perform the Linear Regression task, you can produce a number of different graphs including predicted vs. observed values, residuals vs. independent variables, a normal QQ-plot of residuals, and several leverage plots. Similarly, when performing the Summary Statistics task, you can produce comparative histograms and box plots.

New to the Analyst Application in Version 8 are basic business graphics: you can produce two- and three-dimensional pie and bar charts. In addition, all of the new statistical tasks include new graphics as well, such as survivor function plots in the Life Table analysis task.

You can customize the appearance of the plots you produce by specifying graphics settings that persist across sessions. You can also control the display of points, bars, rectangles, axis lines, line widths, patterns, and text.
