This page describes the minimum version requirements of Java Development Kits (JDK) for use with SAS 9.2. It is possible to use updated versions of the third party software listed below. See SAS Third Party Software Requirements - Baseline and Higher Support for more details. [see note at bottom]
The following table identifies Java Software Development Kit (JDK) requirements for supported Web application servers and z/OS. Web application servers and servlet engines require the use of a full JDK.
On 64-bit operating systems, a 64-bit JDK is required unless the JDK vendor or application server vendor does not support a 64-bit JDK. Currently those exceptions include:
It is not necessary to download a JDK for IBM WebSphere Application Server. IBM WebSphere Application Server comes embedded with a specific version of the IBM JDK that is automatically installed and used by WebSphere.
For z/OS, there is no separate Java Runtime Environment, and therefore a JDK must be used with the SAS® Foundation. For SAS® Java clients and other platforms supported by the SAS Foundation, use the JRE recommendations.
