This page provides an overview of the Microsoft Windows operating systems that are supported from SAS 6.12 to SAS 9.2. The box symbol
in the table indicates that the SAS release and the Windows operating system combination is supported. Also included is a comment section that outlines which Microsoft Windows service packs are required and other pertinent information.
SAS Institute is releasing SAS 9.2 in several phases. Phase 1 of SAS 9.2 (TS1M0) released in early 2008 focuses on SAS Foundation products. Phase 2 of SAS 9.2 (TS2M0) released in early 2009 focuses on SAS Foundation servers and SAS clients via SAS Business Intelligence. Phase 3 of SAS 9.2 will see SAS 9.2 technology foundation throughout late 2009. Specifics of updates to solutions will be available closer to their release date.
For more detailed information about each SAS release, see the system requirements for SAS 8, SAS 9.1.3, SAS 9.2 (TS1M0), and SAS 9.2 (TS2M0).
You can find out more about the changes from SAS 9.1.3 to SAS®9 SAS 8.2 to SAS®9 in What's New.
Also see important information about migration from SAS 9.1.3 to SAS 9.2. If your SAS 9.1.3 deployment includes one or more Business Intelligence, Data Integration, or solution products and is metadata-based, you might be able to use the SAS Migration Utility to migrate to SAS 9.2. Also see the 9.1.3 to 9.2 migration guide.
SAS determines which Windows operating system its releases run under by following Microsoft's Support Lifecycle Policy. When an operating system reaches its end of life, Microsoft reduces or ends support. SAS's support lifecycle policy defines the support available for SAS releases.
Note: Under x64 editions of Windows such as Windows XP Professional x64, SAS 9.1.3 supports the installation of bundles, such as Education Analytic Suite (EAS). Note, however, that some products in those bundles are NOT supported under Windows x64 and should not be installed. See SAS Note 16568 for details.
Windows 7 is not supported at this time. Testing continues for SAS under Windows 7. Information will be added for specific family members as that information becomes available. See SAS Note 34569 for details.
