Supported Operating Environments for Windows

This page provides an overview of the Microsoft Windows operating systems that are supported from SAS 8.2 to SAS 9.3.

The What's New Web page provides links to documents that explain new features and changes in SAS software releases.

Also see important information about migration from SAS 9.1.3 or SAS 9.2 to SAS 9.3. If your SAS 9.1.3 or SAS 9.2 deployment includes one or more Business Intelligence, Data Integration, or solution products and is metadata-based, you might be able to use the SAS Migration Utility to migrate to SAS 9.3.

SAS determines which Windows operating system its releases run under by following Microsoft's Support Lifecycle Policy. When an operating system reaches its end of life, Microsoft reduces or ends support. SAS's support lifecycle policy defines the support that is available for SAS releases.

Note: Under x64 editions of Windows such as Windows XP Professional x64, SAS 9.1.3 supports the installation of bundles, such as SAS Education Analytical Suite. Note, however, that some products in those bundles are NOT supported under Windows x64 and should not be installed. See SAS Note 16568 for details.

In the following table, a box indicates that the SAS release and the Windows operating system combination is supported. Where applicable, comments are provided that outline which Microsoft Windows service packs are required and other pertinent information.

Windows 9x
Windows NT
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Vista4
Windows 7
Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2008
